Health 2000
our vision of complementary therapies and mainstream medicine

Health 2000 was started In November 1997 when an Open Day was held in Elmfield health group to promote the use of Complementary Therapies in General Practice. There were public talks given by the Doctors and Therapists, more personal demonstrations and taster sessions, plus some group workshops.

Elmfield health group remains at the core of health 2000 and is an innovative NHS GP practice, that emphasises the connections between the mind and body and brings a holistic approach to health in the NHS.

The practice has taken the time and energy to build up good professional relationships with various complementary therapists and to become familiar with how they work. Health 2000 was formed to provide information and promote networking between Doctors, Complementary Therapists, clients and the general public. It holds regular talks and events on different therapies both for the general public and mainstream health professionals

Our aim is to show that the two systems can complement each other in a truly holistic approach to health and we can choose to use the best of both.

Health 2000 is working towards establishing an Institute of Complementary Medicine based in Newcastle. This will act as a focal point for the provision of holistic health care, the training of Doctors in Complementary Therapies and as a general source of information and education for the public, Therapists and Doctors.

We welcome any feedback, comments, contributions and suggestions and we are particularly keen to hear from anyone who feels they have really benefited from their journey into self-healing through Complementary Therapies.
